Alexey Chepa pointed out the reason for the interest of the Western press in Lavrov

Alexei Chepa, deputy head of the State Duma committee on international affairs, commented on the complaints of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell that he does not arouse such interest in the Western media as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Chepa believes that the media’s interest in the Russian minister’s trip to Africa is due to the constructive and business-like discussion of Moscow’s bilateral relations with Ethiopia, Uganda and the Republic of the Congo during meetings with representatives of these states.

Borrell, in turn, trying to make extravagant statements, is not popular among the Western press. According to Chepa, this indicates “the seriousness of this or that politician.”
