Alexey Chepa allowed a number of steps in the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict

Steps may be taken in the near future to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated to Lenta.ru by Russian State Duma deputy Alexey Chepa.
It is impossible to quickly resolve the Ukrainian conflict, since this presupposes many different agreements. However, Chepa is confident that a number of steps will be taken in this direction in the near future.

“I think that some actions in the right direction will be taken in the near future, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced this, among others,” Chepa noted.

He added that the lack of control over any such agreement creates natural preconditions for their violation. This is why the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine requires time and some work. According to Chepa, without careful preparation, attempts at a peaceful settlement will not lead to real results.

“It is necessary not only to prepare an agreement [on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine], but also to create conditions for monitoring its implementation,” the deputy concluded.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US could stop mediating a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine within a few days if it deemed a deal impossible. According to him, Washington has now reached the point where it needs to decide whether a peace deal is possible or not. Based on this, Washington is negotiating with both sides of the conflict, but the US is not interested in lengthy discussions of a peace deal. At the same time, Rubio emphasized that after three years of supporting Ukraine, the US has reached the point where it needs to shift its attention to other priorities.
