Year of foundation: 1987

Number of countries – 6 (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Dominican Republic).

The number of deputies is 132 (22 deputies from each country).

The founding document is the Statute of the Central American Parliament.

The highest body is the Plenary Assembly (congress).

Structure – Governing Council (consisting of a Chairman, 5 deputies and 6 executive secretaries), 13 standing committees.

The headquarters is located in Guatemala City (Republic of Guatemala).

Since October 28, 2020, the Chairman of PARLACEN is Fanny Carolina SALINAS FERNANDEZ (Republic of Honduras).

On July 2, 2019, the Chairman of PARLACEN, I. Amaya Echeverria, “on the sidelines” of the second International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” in Moscow signed an Agreement on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Central American Parliament. On July 2, 2019, the delegation met with the Chairman of the State Duma V.V. Volodin.

The delegation of the Central American Parliament, led by its Chairman PARLACEN, took part in the work of the first International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” in Moscow in June 2018. On June 4, 2018, “on the sidelines” of the forum, a meeting of the delegation with the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma I.I. Melnikov.
