
Russia will most likely be forced to remove its equipment from Syria. This opinion was expressed by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Chepa.
Commenting on the events taking place in Syria, Chepa expressed regret that the country’s armed forces fled, leaving all their positions. In his opinion, this indicates its weakness.
“We are now forced, probably, to dismantle our equipment and remove it from there,” he told Lenta.ru.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey positively assesses the constructive view of Russia and Iran on the situation around Syria.
On December 8, Damascus came under the control of armed opposition groups. After that, Syrian troops left the center of Damascus. Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali, who remained in the capital, declared his readiness to cooperate with any government that the Syrians elect. In his video address, he noted that he would transfer power in the country peacefully.
