Alexey Chepa: NATO justifies military budgets with talk of World War III

NATO member states justify large military expenditures with rhetoric about the risk of World War III.

This was stated by Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, to NEWS.ru.

He emphasized that this is very profitable for arms manufacturers.

“NATO countries have increased their spending to 5% of GDP. To do this, they need to escalate the situation and look for an enemy. An enemy has been found. That’s why they are currently playing up this situation in every possible way,” the parliamentarian noted.

Earlier, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu stated that European Union member states could deceive US President Donald Trump when fulfilling their commitments to increase defense spending.
