Russia may act as a diplomatic mediator in the Middle East conflict to expedite its resolution. This was stated at a press conference by Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
“How prepared is Russia [to intervene in the conflict]? We have already stated that we are ready to mediate in resolving this problem, this conflict. And we will do so,” Chepa said.
He noted that Iran is a strategic partner for Russia, and the countries have ambitious plans for joint projects and other forms of cooperation. “Therefore, we will do everything possible to resolve this conflict as much as possible,” the parliamentarian concluded.
