There is no need for direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine. This was stated to NEWS.ru on March 24 by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexey Chepa.
Negotiations between the Russian and American delegations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict began on the morning of March 24 in Riyadh. According to the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin personally selected negotiators from Moscow for consultations with Washington.
As Chepa noted, the main parties to the negotiations are the Russian Federation and the United States, they will later inform Ukraine about the conditions put forward. The deputy also believes that the meeting in Riyadh is being held in order to convey Washington’s position.
“And we see that [the head of the Kyiv regime Vladimir] Zelensky is not invited to these negotiations and Ukraine’s role here is small, so there is no need for Russia to negotiate with Ukraine today,” he said.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Parliamentary Newspaper, Chepa suggested that the meeting of the Russian and US delegations on March 24 will be devoted to discussing the nuances of the agreements already reached. In this case, one of the key topics, in his opinion, will be the violations of the agreement on the temporary cessation of strikes on energy facilities committed by the Ukrainian leadership.
