The Russian Armed Forces are targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to disable military facilities, Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told Lenta.ru.
“Our main goal in striking Ukrainian energy facilities is to disable military facilities, as well as infrastructure facilities that support the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Chepa said.
The day before, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike using long-range precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, and attack drones against Ukrainian military-industrial complex (MIC) facilities. The publication stated that all strike objectives were achieved, “all designated facilities were hit.”
The Russian military began striking Ukrainian infrastructure in October 2022, shortly after the explosion on the Crimean Bridge. Since then, air raid sirens have been regularly sounded in various regions of Ukraine, often throughout the country. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, attacks are being carried out on facilities in the energy sector, defense industry, military command and control, and communications.
