The deputy from the United Russia faction Anatoly Karpov, commenting on the information on the investigation against Petro Poroshenko, noted that the results should be expected if the current president of Ukraine can put pressure on the legal system.
“It’s a mystery to me how Zelensky was able to win the elections – simply, perhaps, the people of Ukraine became disillusioned with the previous leaders, from whom they only saw embezzlement,” said Anatoly Karpov.
The deputy noted: if Zelensky succeeds in stopping the officials’ theft, then relations with Russia will probably be restored.
On May 21, the former deputy head of the administration of the Ukrainian leader, Andrei Portnov, stated that Poroshenko had officially lost his immunity from criminal prosecution and filed an application to the State Bureau of Investigation against him. Portnov Poroshenko accused of treason, abuse of official authority and an attempt to seize power.
Earlier, member of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, a deputy from the United Russia faction Artem Turov expressed doubt that the case against Poroshenko would be brought to court.
