Anton Morozov called an irresponsible step the refusal of the representatives of the United States, Britain, Estonia and Ukraine at a UN Security Council meeting on Crimea

On Thursday, a meeting was held at the UN where Crimean residents spoke via video link. The event was held in continuation of the meeting, held on March 6. Then the organizers, who spoke a number of Western countries, refused to give the floor to representatives of the peninsula. Arria meetings are not directly related to UN Security Council events and imply consultations that can invite not only diplomats, but also representatives of non-governmental organizations and the public.

Representatives of Ukraine, Great Britain, the USA and Estonia refused to take part in a meeting of the UN Security Council initiated by Russia according to the Arria formula on the situation in Crimea, the Russian Permanent Mission said.

“I believe that this is another irresponsible step on the part of our partners – the United States, Great Britain and satellites, including the Ukrainian authorities controlled by them … We believe that this approach infringes on the rights of people who live on the peninsula. Regardless of whether whose jurisdiction they are now in, they have the right to fulfill their basic needs, “RIA Novosti told Morozov.

The deputy stressed that at the moment the inhabitants of the peninsula are limited in their rights of movement, they cannot get entry visas to the European Union in the territory where they live, many banks do not work, commercial companies including Western companies, noting that there are many problems that it is necessary “to solve together, regardless of the political situation.”

Anton Morozov emphasized that countries that refused to take part in a meeting of the UN Security Council initiated by Russia are obviously set to continue the confrontation and do not want to build a dialogue either in the Security Council itself or in the UN fields.

“Therefore, we urge our colleagues from these countries to nevertheless take a humanitarian approach to this problem and put aside political disagreements. We support the position of the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN and believe that this work, despite such a destructive approach by Western partners, must be continued,” – concluded Morozov.
