November 25 this year in the format of a video conference, a joint meeting of the parliamentary friendship groups of the Parliaments of Russia and the Republic of Ireland took place.
On the Russian side, the event was attended by deputies from the LDPR faction A.Yu. Morozov. (Group Coordinator) and Markov E.V., as well as the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ireland, Mr. Filatov Yu.A.
Irish participants included both members of the lower and upper houses of the Irish Parliament, representatives of the Finne Gal and Sinn Fein parties, and one independent MP. The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland in Moscow, Mr. Brian McElduff.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including the resumption of inter-parliamentary dialogue between the two countries, progress in combating the coronavirus pandemic, the development of Russian vaccines, the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and the peacekeeping role of Russia in the settlement of this conflict, the situation in Crimea and relations with Ukraine.
Russia has always advocated a peaceful resolution of all conflicts at the negotiating table and does not accept the language of sanctions, economic pressure, and threats. Such a frank and active exchange of views allows us to better understand each other, allows us to establish working relationships, and build a confidential conversation, a dialogue about the problems that concern both our parliamentarians and our peoples.
The parties agreed to continue such meetings in the VKS mode, the Irish side expressed its desire to come to Russia after the lifting of all restrictions due to the pandemic.
