Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Anton Morozov, in a conversation with RT, commented on the completion by the United States of the procedure for withdrawing from the Open Skies Treaty.
“In my opinion, in practical terms, this will not harm the security of the Russian Federation, since now the tracking systems for military infrastructure are used mainly on the basis of satellite technologies … Nevertheless, the break in security agreements indicates that players in the international arena, and this, of course, causes some concern in terms of global security in general, ”the parliamentarian explained.
The United States will officially end its obligations under the Open Skies Treaty on November 22.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that neither European security nor the security of the United States itself and its allies benefited from the US withdrawal from the treaty.
