European countries will be able to decide on the lifting of sanctions if they realize that they need to be guided by their own interests, and not by US-imposed policies, Anton Morozov, member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, told RIA Novosti.
“If Europeans can finally realize, not only in France but also in other EU member states, that it is necessary to be guided by their own interests, that it is necessary to strengthen sovereignty, then, obviously, they will be able to decide on the lifting of sanctions,” Morozov said.
The deputy stressed that initially the sanctions policy was imposed on the European countries by the Americans in connection with the US provocations in Ukraine, which led to an aggravation of the situation.
“The US only benefits from sanctions because they (European countries) weaken themselves and our country by fencing themselves off from Russia. Against this background, the United States strengthens influence around the world,” Morozov concluded.
