Anton Morozov, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee (LDPR), considers it necessary to resume negotiations on Iran’s nuclear issue and work out a mutually acceptable formula for the Iranian dossier. Iran refused to transform the facility in Fordo into a nuclear center Earlier, Iranian ambassador to London Hamid Baidinejad said that Tehran, which, after the US withdraws from the nuclear deal, is reducing its obligations under the agreement, can withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). “I believe that it is necessary to resume negotiations on a six-party nuclear deal on Iran, because, of course, the unresolved issue poses a threat to the entire Middle East, and to Israel in particular,” Morozov told RIA Novosti.
The deputy noted that the sanctions imposed against Iran hinder the country’s economic development, as well as the development of a peaceful nuclear industry. “Of course, the fact that Iran has been isolated for such a long time, the Iranian people suffer. Suspend the situation with Iran for such a long time and not react in any way to its proposals for a peaceful settlement of the situation irresponsible from our Western partners. I think it’s time to sit down to the negotiating table and develop a mutually acceptable formula for the Iranian dossier, “concluded Morozov.
In 2015, the Six (Great Britain, Germany, China, Russia, the USA, France) and Iran announced the achievement of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan. The agreement provided for the lifting of sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran’s nuclear program. The deal in its original form did not survive even three years: in May 2018, the United States announced a unilateral withdrawal from it and the restoration of stringent sanctions against the Islamic republic. Iran said it is reducing a number of obligations under the deal.
