Anton Morozov: The sanctions regime cannot cause tangible damage to our economy, let alone force us to neglect our interests in international politics and somehow change our course

Anton Morozov, a member of the State Duma’s Foreign Affairs Committee, commented on RT research data from Matthew Crozet of Lynn University in Hong Kong and Julian Hintz of the Kiel Institute for World Economy, who said that 45% of the damage from anti-Russian sanctions falls on the countries that introduced them

“This is an absolutely correct conclusion. We have long said that Russia is a large, self-sufficient country and the sanctions regime cannot cause significant damage to our economy, much less force us to neglect our interests in international politics and somehow change our course, ”the politician said.

He emphasized that the European economy suffered significantly precisely because of a decrease in trade between the EU countries and Russia.

“For Europe, the most damage is because the EU countries have always been major economic partners for us. This primarily concerned the supply of resources and the purchase of necessary goods from Europe, ”said Morozov.

According to the parliamentarian, representatives of the EU countries are beginning to understand the need to revise the anti-Russian sanctions policy.

“Of course, even European politicians, based on our bilateral contacts, are interested in removing restrictive measures as soon as possible and returning to normal, full-fledged cooperation,” Morozov added.

He also noted that a return to a “full partnership” is difficult due to US pressure on EU countries.
