Dmitry Belik: Britain has switched to a new tactic of playing the long game against Russia

The UK plan to deploy its troops on Ukrainian territory demonstrates London’s choice of a new tactic of playing the long game against Russia. This opinion was expressed by Dmitry Belik, a State Duma deputy from Sevastopol and a member of the International Affairs Committee.

According to Belik, the British leadership saw that Russia was not giving up on the battlefield and decided to switch to a different tactic.

“What is left of Ukraine will need to be armed, and the local Nazis already have more than enough motivation,” the deputy said.

He explained that London’s plan includes forcing the Russian Federation to deploy its military contingent on the border, which will entail large expenses and a decline in the investment attractiveness of the state. Thus, Belik added, the UK’s tactics are a long game.

“This is a long game, but they have been fighting against us for centuries, so they have become accustomed to waiting,” the parliamentarian noted in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported that the UK is discussing an initiative to deploy its troops in Ukraine for up to five years. The plan is being considered to ensure Kyiv’s security during the remilitarization. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the initiative preparation for foreign intervention.
