Dmitry Belik: Poland uses the special status of Poles in Ukraine for its own purposes

The Polish authorities use the introduction in Ukraine of a special legal status for Polish citizens to achieve their own goals, Dmitry Belik, a member of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, suggested in an interview with RIA FAN. According to Belik, it is highly likely that the Poles will actually receive all the rights of ordinary Ukrainians.

Poland uses the current situation around Ukraine in its geopolitical interests. Poland has goals that it would like to achieve in Eastern Europe, among the main ones are the strengthening of the ideological confrontation with Russia and imperial ambitions, reminiscent of the fact that the western territories of Ukraine have historically been considered as the ancestral lands of Poland. So such decisions will untie the hands of Warsaw in achieving its plans.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called Zelensky’s decision to open access to the territories of Ukraine without citizenship to Polish citizens as a legalization of the seizure of the country.
