The European economy risks falling apart after Germany’s decision to supply Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Now they will have to abandon Russian energy resources in favor of expensive American ones. Dmitry Belik, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said this in an interview with a URA.RU correspondent.
“With its consent to the supply of tanks, Germany has tied its hands and feet, putting a bullet in the EU economy. The USA, in fact, is carrying out the economic enslavement of Europe, so that the myth of a strong European industry is melting before our eyes. If we take into account the energy crisis, then Germany will have to go for an economically harmful strategy of purchasing energy resources from the States. So it is quite possible that the framework of the European economy, which was Germany, will simply break down,” said Dmitry Belik.
The deputy stressed that, despite the fact that key decisions are made by Washington, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be responsible for their consequences. “Berlin resisted the supplies, not wanting to plunge into the conflict, especially since it does not have a strong army. In Germany, they thought, thought, calculated the losses in their own economy and the problems in the Bundeswehr due to the devastation of the arsenals. But the American dictate forced Scholz to do what the US needs. It’s just that Washington makes the decision, and in which case the chancellor will have to answer, whose hesitation with supplies no one will remember, ”the agency’s interlocutor noted.
According to him, Germany gradually turned into a completely dependent country. “From the time of the Marshall Plan until today, Germany has been sinking ever deeper into the vassalage of Washington. This applies to the economy, military presence, and other aspects. Thus, a number of the largest German companies are controlled by investors from across the ocean, and American nuclear warheads are located on German territory. Germany surrendered to US pressure. This is an illustrative case when a state with a developed market economy, sufficient infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce is turned by the States into a dependent and weak-willed country,” Belik added.
Earlier, Germany officially announced that it would send 14 of its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. It also gave permission for deliveries to partner countries. It took Berlin about a month to make this decision. Scholz said he would ensure that NATO did not become a party to the Ukrainian conflict, and such an escalation should be avoided.
