Russia is conducting a special operation to enable people to live in a normal and peaceful country, not an aggressive one. It ensures its security, the guarantees of which the country wanted to receive from Western partners, said Dmitry Belik.
“We sent proposals that were largely ignored. There were repeated warnings that Russia reserves the right (if it fails to resolve security issues through diplomatic means – ed. note) of military-technical actions, which is happening today. In fact, we were left with no choice,” he said.
The State Duma deputy expressed the hope that in the near future “our neighbors will change their leadership and people will come to power” who will not create a project called “Anti-Russia” on the territory of Kievan Rus.
“Unfortunately, Poroshenko and Zelensky have been doing this in recent years,” he added.
According to the parliamentarian, the next president of Ukraine, who may appear in the foreseeable future, “will conclude relevant treaties and diplomatic agreements with us.”
“We did not see anything good from Mr. Zelensky, he deceived his voters, promising peace in the Donbass and the southeast. When he was elected, he promised to improve relations with Russia and did not fulfill a single point. Break off diplomatic relations? We go our own way,” Dmitry Belik told Parliamentary Gazeta.
Earlier, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak said that the special military operation announced by the President has two goals – a peaceful life in the Donbass and the protection of Russia from military threats that have become obvious on its borders. And this operation should be considered as a peacekeeping one, which will put an end to the genocide and prevent an attack on Russia. According to him, United Russia fully supports the decision of its leader.
Recall, Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday that he had decided on a special military operation of the Russian Federation to demilitarize Ukraine. According to him, circumstances require decisive and immediate action, the people’s republics of Donbass turned to Russia with a request for help. The main goal of the special operation is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
