At the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly outlined the West’s position, which is finding it difficult to accept the reality of a multipolar world, Dmitry Belik, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told RT.
“Western countries find it difficult to accept the reality of a multipolar world and the impossibility of dominating global political, economic, and cultural processes. Russia’s policy is aimed at creating a model in which there is a balance of interests between various centers of power and influence,” he noted.
According to the parliamentarian, instead of building constructive relations with Russia, the West has chosen to resist.
“Russia maintains an independent foreign policy and resists attempts to limit its role on the international stage. Moscow’s position on NATO’s eastward expansion and interference in the affairs of former Soviet republics is an example. Naturally, Western countries don’t like this,” Belik added.
However, despite the obstacles erected by the West, Russia continues to promote the concept of multipolarity as a crucial element of its foreign policy strategy, striving to create the conditions for a just and balanced world order, the RT source concluded.
As Vladimir Putin noted earlier, the European Union is a powerful association with enormous potential, but it is already a fading center.
