Maria Butina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, commenting on RIA Novosti’s recording of a conversation between German officers, which appeared at the disposal of Russian journalists, said that she finds it hard to believe that the Bundestag will be able to punish the perpetrators and restore justice.
Earlier on Friday, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television channel, said that she had obtained an audio recording in which senior German Bundeswehr officers discussed “how they will bomb the Crimean Bridge.” According to her, in the 40-minute audio recording, Bundeswehr officers mention both the US and British military, “casually discussing that these have been directly involved in the conflict for a long time.” Later that day, Simonyan published the text of the conversation, according to which four senior Bundeswehr representatives, including the head of the Air Force’s operations and exercises department, participated in the conversation, they discussed the sending of Taurus missiles to Ukraine and the attack on the Crimean Bridge.
“I would like to believe that there are still people in the Bundestag who can restore justice, reveal to German citizens the truth about what happened, and punish those responsible. But it’s hard to believe,” Butina told the agency.
According to the deputy, attacks on the Crimean bridge are a violation of all possible norms of international humanitarian law, “an unthinkable crime against humanity.” She expressed the opinion that Germany “believes that its historical guilt before the world has already been atoned for, which means it can go to great lengths.”
“”We have known for a long time that, contrary to all the statements of (German Chancellor Olaf – ed.) Scholz, Germany is contributing to the war crimes of the Kiev regime. For this you do not need to be a brilliant detective or wear shoulder straps. When the Federal Chancellor is in front of the crowd shouts greetings from the followers of the collaborator Bandera less than a week after the 78th anniversary of the victory over Hitler, there are no questions left,” the parliamentarian added.
At the same time, Butina is confident that among the Germans there are many adequate people who are aware of the nation’s collective responsibility for the historical past and do not want German weapons to be supplied to Ukraine.
“The main thing is not to forget how historically such provocations towards Russia ended. Nobody wants a repetition,” she concluded.
In May 2023, Scholz, in the presence of Vladimir Zelensky, delivered a greeting to Ukrainian nationalists, which was recognized as an element of the attributes of a number of extremist organizations banned in Russia. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, then noted that the German leader crossed the border drawn by the leaders of post-war Germany.
