Maria Butina announced the intensification of Russophobic rhetoric in the West with the approach of winter

Maria Butina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said that against the backdrop of a shortage of energy resources before the approaching winter, Western politicians deliberately support anti-Russian rhetoric in society, including trying to accuse Moscow of undermining Nord Stream, Pravfond reports.

Butina believes that politicians from unfriendly states are ready to use any informational occasion to support Russophobia among the population. “There is nothing surprising in the new accusations against Russia. This is done in order to keep the information field and further pump up Russophobic rhetoric in the Western countries themselves. We clearly see that winter is coming, there is a shortage of energy resources, people in Western countries are outraged, they do not want to be at knives with Russia,” she said.

The MP noted that such activities are carried out, among other things, to maintain partnerships with Washington. The parliamentarian stressed that if this approach is abandoned, Westerners may wonder about the appropriateness of large-scale sanctions against Russia, which negatively affect their standard of living.
