Maria Butina met with representatives of civil society of the Republic of Lithuania – members of the Neighborhood Forum

I met with representatives of the civil society of the Republic of Lithuania – members of the Neighborhood Forum, which today has about 800 participants. They (contrary to the official line of the Lithuanian leadership) support the course towards the development of peaceful relations with Russia, stand for competent people’s diplomacy and traditional values. Just the other day, members of the organization visited the Public Chamber, was glad to receive them within the walls of the State Duma at the site of the Committee on International Affairs of Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky.

Discussed:

▫️the theme of Russophobia and political prisoners. More precisely, the prospects for helping our compatriot Konstantin Nikulin, who was illegally accused and held in Lithuania, as well as Algirdas Paleckis and Aleksejus Greicius, who ended up behind bars for spying for the Russian Federation;

▫️an important issue of developing relations with the civil society of Lithuania, the activities of the “Forum of Good Neighborliness” on the territory of the Russian Federation;

▫️interaction in the area of student exchange and preservation of historical memory, attracting Lithuanian youth to Russia for training and holding joint forums.

I would like to thank Darius Norkus, Mindaugas Ramoška, Erica Švenčienene and Vaida Juozapaitė for their openness and willingness to work. I am sure that this polylogue and the specific actions already planned will bring certain results in the form of improving the relationship between our states.
