Maria Butina: My deputy’s request to the Prosecutor General’s Office on the situation of Russians in prisons in Indonesia

In response to my deputy’s request to the Prosecutor General’s Office on the situation of Russians in prisons in Indonesia in connection with suspicion of drug trafficking, where, perhaps, there is an outright setup on the part of our compatriots, an answer was received that a request was sent to colleagues-law enforcement officers in this country with a request to verify and take action on the situation. Also, the Prosecutor General’s Office wrote to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to organize the consideration and take appropriate measures.

I will follow the progress of the case and keep you informed. I hope that the guilty will receive the punishment they deserve, and the innocent will be acquitted on all counts and will return home.
