Dmitry Belik: “Ukraine would not have been able to produce chemical weapons without Western assistance”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are receiving some chemical weapons as part of military aid from the West. This was stated by State Duma deputy for international affairs Dmitry Belik, TASS reports.

“Of course, Ukraine would not have the opportunity to produce such weapons without the assistance of the West. This requires production facilities and corresponding components, including those brought from abroad,” the parliamentarian said.

Belik also admitted that Ukraine could use chemical weapons in the future for various provocations.

“When arguments on the battlefield run out, Kyiv uses prohibited methods. (…) Provocations with chemicals are one of the ways to put pressure on our country. Ukraine can create a potentially dangerous situation outside the combat zone in order to blame Russia for this, so we should be prepared for everything and attract public attention,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Permanent Mission of Russia to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) announced the results of studies conducted by the OPCW-certified chemical analytical laboratory of the Russian Ministry of Defence, accusing the West of ignoring the use of chemical weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
