First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitry Novikov called the good news of the dismissal of John Bolton from the post of adviser to the President of the United States on national security.
This, in his opinion, may mean a search for options to improve relations with the Russian Federation.
“Bolton’s dismissal is positive news (…) His departure may mean that it is possible that Trump is looking for a more adequate person who would improve relations, including the United States and Russia,” Novikov told Interfax in Tuesday.
However, according to him, “this does not mean that a man will come to replace Bolton, who will try to somehow radically launch America’s foreign policy course.” “Let’s see what this appointment will be. Perhaps (in the place of the US President’s adviser on national security – IF) there will come a figure who will advocate a more moderate policy towards Russia. Maybe some fresh ideas will be proposed in Korean and Chinese directions, “the MP added.
Bolton is leaving his post, US President Advisor on National Security, Donald Trump said on Tuesday. “I informed John Bolton last night that the White House no longer needs his services. I asked John to resign, a petition he submitted to me this morning,” Trump tweeted.
The President noted that he did not agree with many of Bolton’s ideas, but nevertheless thanked him for the work done. He promised that he would name the new national security adviser next week.
