Dmitry Novikov: Calls from Kyiv will not affect air traffic between Georgia and the Russian Federation

The proposal of the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, to close air traffic between Georgia and Russia in order to normalize relations between Kyiv and Tbilisi will not affect Russian-Georgian relations. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Novikov shared this opinion with NEWS.ru.

According to the deputy, there is no point in Georgia cutting off ties with the Russian Federation. He also noted that the interference of third parties in Russian-Georgian relations looks extremely incorrect.

“I don’t think that Tbilisi will be very afraid of Arakhamia’s shouts. When the Georgian authorities moved to restore air traffic, they were guided by the close ties of people, the interests of business and culture,” Novikov said.

Earlier, a statement was published on the website of the Georgian Cabinet of Ministers, in which the government of the country expressed concern about the unfriendly actions of the Ukrainian authorities directed against the Georgian people, as reported by the Parliamentary Gazette. According to Arakhamia, the Georgian government is pro-Kremlin and in order to normalize relations with Ukraine, the Georgian authorities must release the Ukrainian Mikheil Saakashvili from prison, stop direct flights with Moscow and support anti-Russian sanctions.
