Dmitry Novikov commented on the results of the parliamentary elections in Britain

The preliminary results of the vote in the UK parliamentary elections show a focus on Brexit. This, however, does not mean that the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union will accelerate. This opinion was made by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Novikov.

“These elections are, rather, the elections of those who fix the line on Brexit,” Novikov noted.

In his opinion, the results of exit polls show “an interesting situation in the sense that, after all, Jeremy Corbin, who ranks second with his party, did not speak out strongly against Brexit.”

Novikov also suggests that such parliamentary election results “do not mean at all that Brexit will radically accelerate.”

In his opinion, “Donald Trump’s regular curtsies against Boris Johnson also have a very specific context, since for the current Washington administration, urging Brexit on means many of its issues.”

Earlier it was reported that the ruling Conservative Party of Great Britain was able to secure a majority in the early elections to the House of Commons of the British Parliament, as evidenced by the results of surveys conducted at the exits from polling stations.
