Dmitry Novikov considers the killing of Suleymani the last straw of patience for Iran

The assassination of Iranian General Kassem Suleimani by the United States was the last straw for Tehran, which is no longer ready to endure American pressure, Dmitry Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, said.

The deputy called the elimination of the military leader “a wholly-owned act of state terrorism against the UN member state.”

“The assassination of Suleimani was the quintessence that symbolized that the United States was not going to comply with any rules of the game, posing as the most civilized state in the world that could dictate democratic norms to others,” Novikov explained in a commentary to Politics Today.

The promise of the Iranian parliamentarian to pay a reward in the amount of three million dollars for the head of the American leader Donald Trump, Novikov, who appeared in the media, is prone to be regarded as an “episode of the information war” between the US and Iran.

“Tehran is not interested in aggravating the situation and very reasonably pursues a policy in order to avoid escalation of the conflict,” the expert concluded.

Recall that relations between the United States and Iran sharply exacerbated at the beginning of the year, when the US military on the orders of Trump eliminated the Iranian military commander. Tehran said it would avenge the United States for the death of the commander.

As a result, on January 8, Iran responded with a missile strike to the US side at its military bases in Iraq. The Pentagon later admitted that 11 US citizens were injured in the attack.

Military expert Boris Rozhin expressed the opinion that residents of the Middle East no longer intend to tolerate the US presence in the region, as Washington’s irresponsible actions do more harm than the militants of the Islamic State terrorist group 1 (IG1, banned in the Russian Federation).
