Dmitry Novikov did not rule out Carlson going into politics after his interview with Putin

The US attacks on Tucker Carlson over an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin could force the journalist to go into politics. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Novikov shared this opinion with NEWS.ru.

Earlier, Carlson recorded a video message from Moscow, in which he announced an upcoming interview with the Russian leader, as the Parliamentary Gazette wrote about. The Kremlin confirmed this information.

In turn, former US House of Representatives member Adam Kinzinger called the journalist a traitor in a post on social networks, and American Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said that Democrats in the United States and their media propagandists are shaking at the prospect of an interview between the former Fox News TV channel host and the Russian president. Also, according to media reports, the former chief of staff of the vice president, Bill Kristol, proposed temporarily banning Carlson from entering America.

According to Novikov, pressure from the American side can put the journalist “in a nervous state,” however, it should be understood that Carlson is a specialist who is accustomed “to attacks against him.”

“I think he will be able to convert these attacks into further growth of personal popularity. I don’t rule out that he will try to prove himself in politics,” the deputy said.
