The rearrangement of figures in leading positions in Western countries is unlikely to affect the reduction of the militant attitude towards Russia. The desire to continue the conflict there will not go anywhere. This only confirms that a worthy future awaits Ukraine only in cooperation with Russia.
In the absence of real successes on the fronts, the Ukrainian military is turning to outwardly spectacular but meaningless actions. So, a detachment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to hoist a flag on Zmeiny Island, but came under fire from the Russian military.
Dmitry Novikov described these moves as part of a hybrid war. According to him, success or failure in hostilities matters only in the final analysis: “As long as the hostilities continue, the Ukrainian side, in the interests of propaganda, in order to delay its end and to continue supporting the West, will organize information campaigns. Their goal is to prove that the Russians, allegedly, have run out of steam and are losing their positions. They claim that Serpent Island is now theirs, and this is a symbol of a future great victory. Nothing else could be expected here from the propagandists of official Kyiv.”
Presenter Ruslan Ostashko asked if Kyiv should continue such public actions in the future. Dmitry Novikov responded by expressing hope that the war provoked by NATO did not come to Ukrainian soil for many years. “The sooner the process of denazification and de-occupation of Ukraine ends, the sooner the topic of Serpentine and other similar provocations will lose its relevance altogether,” said the deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
The main international news meanwhile was the resignation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. This politician was one of the main initiators of tough measures against Russia, and therefore the question was raised in the studio whether his departure would affect the situation around Ukraine.
The representative of the Communist Party noted that “the Johnsons come and go, but Britain and the British elite remain.” Therefore, he continued, one should not expect any special changes in the position of London: “It is no coincidence that the British military right now, these days, are making statements about how they see the continuation of the military operation in Ukraine. They indicate what exactly should be at the center of action for the Ukrainian military. That is, they give clear target designations to Kyiv. This means that London’s policy will not fundamentally change,” Dmitry Novikov emphasized.
Speaking about Johnson’s possible successors, among whom are Defense Minister Ben Wallace and Foreign Minister Liz Truss, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation noted that none of them promise a warming of relations between Russia and Great Britain.
Dmitry Georgievich commented on the information that Boris Johnson wrote a book about Winston Churchill: “There is a tradition within the framework of British political culture. On the one hand, writing such books, they are trying to settle down to someone else’s glory. But there is also a reverse trend. In order to try to exalt their own figure, people begin to call all their predecessors great.”
At the same time, Novikov resolutely disagreed with attempts to exalt indiscriminately the Western leaders of previous periods. Regarding the same Margaret Thatcher, he noted: “That’s what is great about her? Well, yes, she charmed Gorbachev. This helped her and the entire West to destroy the Soviet Union. At the same time, she realized her national interests as she understood them. But what is great here?
RANEPA professor Tatyana Ilarionova, who participated in the program, said that Thatcher, however, moved the economy of her country forward. “And for what? – asked the deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. – Were the British workers grateful to her for this “movement forward”? Certainly not!”
No matter how the names and surnames of the patrons of the Kyiv regime sound, this does not negate the fact, Dmitry Novikov concluded, that Ukraine can be saved only within the framework of integration, economic cooperation with Russia.
