First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitry Novikov commented on RT the words of Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Chaputović that the Polish side recognizes the main role of the Soviet Union in the victory over fascist Germany.
“Those who value their reputation a little … will recognize historical realities. Events related to the Second World War are not so far. Quite a lot of people in Poland remember how events actually developed. Poland itself for a long time was one of the countries of the socialist community, was closely politically and economically integrated with the Soviet Union. In Poland, there are enough people who studied in those Polish schools, where at that time it was not customary to distort historical events, but, on the contrary, paid tribute to the Soviet soldier, ”Novikov said.
At the same time, the parliamentarian believes that in the near future we should not expect a change in the rhetoric of the Polish authorities in matters of historical politics.
Chaputovic said earlier that Poland recognizes “the enormous, even the main role of the Soviet Union in the victory over fascist Germany, as well as the enormous sacrifices of its peoples.”
