Dmitry Novikov: “Russia and Serbia are connected by long fraternal relations”

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitry Novikov in an interview with RT commented on the statement by the Minister for Innovation in the Serbian government Nenad Popovic that Russia is the main ally of Serbia in protecting its interests.

“Russia and Serbia are connected by long fraternal relations, special sympathies. This is due to the fact that we had to be together in different very difficult historical situations: Russia has traditionally supported Serbia in the struggle for independence … Serbs remember this, ”the deputy said.

The parliamentarian noted that the “potential of centuries-old friendship” between Russia and Serbia is an important factor in the development of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

“The friendship of Russia and Serbia is not directed against anyone. This friendship only helps to strengthen mutual understanding in the current world and the establishment of such good neighborly relations on the world stage, ”Novikov added.

Earlier, Nenad Popovic talked about relations with Russia, noting that “Serbia currently does not have a greater friend and ally in protecting its state and national interests than Russia.”
