Dmitry Novikov: “The Iron Curtain is already becoming our reality”

Deputy Novikov called the iron curtain between Russia and the Baltic states a reality

The Iron Curtain between Russia and the Baltic states is already becoming a reality. This opinion was expressed by Dmitry Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Earlier, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina promised the creation of an iron curtain between Russia and the Baltic states. However, she did not specify what this dividing line would be.

“Unfortunately, there is no need to say that the Iron Curtain is something that will appear in the foreseeable future. This is already becoming our reality,” Novikov noted in an interview with Lenta.ru.

The parliamentarian recalled that not so long ago the population of the former USSR could communicate, despite numerous Russophobic statements by Baltic politicians. However, now the Baltic countries have introduced a lot of artificial restrictions in a short time, including closing border checkpoints. Novikov added that they worked hard to create such an iron curtain, preventing people from communicating.
