First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Dmitry Novikov, in an interview with RT, praised the decision of the United States to provide an exception for China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey on the issue of sanctions against Iran.
“The United States is building a policy on a differentiated basis, realizing that it is impossible to fight with the whole world. Some countries in the list they consider important. Of course, they are very different. As for China, it is clear that the trade war between the countries has already gone far enough. With Turkey, the situation is also ambiguous, perhaps the States wanted to fix it,” he said.
The deputy noted that relations with European states are important for the United States.
“As for the European states, it is also necessary for the United States to maintain its position as king of Europe and allied relations with these states. Therefore, in each particular case, the decision was made taking into account all the circumstances,” the deputy said.
Earlier, Pompeo said that Washington would provide temporary exemptions for China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey after the imposition of sanctions against Iran.
