Dmitry Novikov took part in the 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Manila

During the forum, parliamentarians represent countries in a vast region where approximately half the world’s population lives. In the capital of the Philippines, their discussions focused on issues of peace and development, security and stability, conflict prevention and resolution. Much attention has been paid to developing common approaches to achieving the UN sustainable development goals.

Participants of the 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Manila stated the need to increase cooperation between countries in the region, exchange promising experience in solving global and regional problems, increase the level of trust, and develop common approaches to maintaining peace and stability.

On most issues, the discussion participants reached a high level of mutual understanding. This revealed discussions of draft resolutions at the level of commissions and working groups, as well as the progress of plenary meetings. The draft documents caused heated debate. One of these topics was the prospect of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
