Member of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Elena Panina called the words of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the need to create a “new alliance of democracies” to change China as a call for a coup.
The Republican and Democratic parties in the United States, with the approaching presidential elections, have taken a course towards aggravating the situation in the world, the deputy said.
Pompeo on Thursday called for the formation of a “new alliance of democracies” to counter China. He warned that “if the free world does not change communist China, communist China will change us.”
“Pompeo resurrects the idea of Senator (John) McCain, who proposed creating a ‘world league of democracies’ against Russia, but he does it in a much more radical and aggressive form,” Panina said.
According to her, the call to “change China” is, in fact, a call for a coup, a change in the political regime, which will not be ignored in Beijing.
“As the presidential elections in the United States approach, both parties are taking a course towards aggravating the international situation, which is fraught with dangerous consequences for the whole world,” the deputy concluded.
