Elena Panina commented on the decision of the Davos Forum on Princess Olga

The decision of the Davos Forum to remove Princess Olga from the list of women who changed history is a logical consequence of the desire to rewrite history on a global scale, to deprive Russia of its historical past, says Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Earlier, the Davos Forum decided to remove Princess Olga from its list of women who changed history. The list was published by March 8, but with inaccuracies – for example, Ivan (in fact, Prince Igor) was named Olga’s husband. In turn, the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko drew attention to the fact that Olga was called the princess of Kievan Rus – “the progenitor of modern Russia”, and called for “to correct mistakes.”

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Panina noted that such an episode does not take place due to the scale of the international influence of Poroshenko, known for his “penchant” for falsifying history and already distinguished himself by his attempt to rank Princess Anna Yaroslavna, who later became Queen of France, among the “true Ukrainians”.

“Perhaps this is not an annoying misunderstanding, but a logical consequence of the desire to rewrite history on a global scale, to deprive Russia of its historical past. Against this background, Poroshenko plays only the role of a“ talking parrot ”reminding the global West of the need to maintain an anti-Russian tone everywhere, where it is only possible and even impossible,” – stated Panina.
