Elena Panina commented on Vladimir Putin’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize

Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, commenting on the nomination of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize, said that this would be a good test for the adequacy of the committee members.
Earlier it became known that academician, writer Sergei Komkov sent an application for the nomination of Putin to the International Nobel Committee.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, the politician recalled that the Russian leader made a decisive contribution to the establishment of peace in the North Caucasus and Syria, as well as to the ceasefire in Donbass. If it were not for the personal contribution of the head of the Russian Federation, hundreds of people, both military and civilians, would still die there every day, Panina noted.

“It is also necessary to mention the elimination of chemical weapons in Syria in 2013, for which the OPCW was awarded the Nobel Prize, whose functionaries had a very distant relationship to the agreements reached at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation,” the politician emphasized.

In addition, the deputy noted, Putin is the most active and consistent conductor of preserving the existing international security architecture in the world, and “does not allow the forces seeking to finally review the results of World War II to break it.”

According to Panina, Putin’s nomination will be a good test for the adequacy of the Nobel Committee.

“It is one thing to present the Peace Prize to Al Gore and Barack Obama for what achievements are unclear, and it is quite another to show courage and reward a leader who has long earned a reputation as a peacemaker,” she said.
