The Kiev authorities have long joined the anti-Russian bloc led by the United States, so the incident with the Ukrainian diplomat in St. Petersburg is not surprising, the United States and its satellites behave arrogantly and unceremoniously in the Russian Federation, says Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
The FSB of Russia reported on Saturday that consul Alexander Sosonyuk was detained red-handed on April 16 in St. Petersburg during a meeting with a Russian citizen while receiving information of a classified nature contained in the databases of law enforcement agencies and the FSB. Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgeny Yenin later said that the Ukrainian side was preparing countermeasures. And the press secretary of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, clarified that Sosonyuk was detained for several hours and he had already returned to the diplomatic institution.
According to Panina, “the Kiev regime has long joined the anti-Russian bloc led by the United States, and in this sense, such activities of the Ukrainian diplomat are not surprising.”
“The United States and its satellites operate in the Russian Federation insolently and unceremoniously, ignoring all international rules. Against this background, the measures taken by the Russian state to block the activities of structures supported by the US State Department are quite adequate and logical,” the deputy told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
According to her, such restrictions should be extended “to structures acting with the support of the official authorities and other countries belonging to the anti-Russian bloc”, where there is a “tough, repressive approach towards any activity aimed at establishing mutually beneficial ties with the Russian Federation.”
“International relations are based on the principle of reciprocity, the rules should be the same for everyone. Those who have created an” enemy image “from Russia and act accordingly will have to get used to it,” Panina stated.
