The results of the current elections in Bolivia repeat the results of last year, the aggressive position of the street that overthrew Evo Morales last year is far from always identical to the position of the popular majority, says Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma’s international affairs committee.
The day before in the Latin American country elections were held for the head of state. So far, only 19.33% of the votes have been counted, according to which ex-President Carlos Mesa is in the lead. However, the exit poll data indicate the victory of his opponent Luis Arce, and right in the first round. Former Bolivian President Mesa acknowledged the results of a quick vote count, according to which Arce of the “Movement to Socialism” supported by ex-President Evo Morales won in the first round.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Panina said that President Morales was ousted from power as a result of one of the many “color revolutions” during which US-oriented political parties and NGOs do not recognize the election results and go for a forceful seizure of power.
“However, the new authorities during the year of their rule could neither improve the situation of the residents, nor gain the credibility of the population. The results of the current elections, in fact, repeat the results of last year, which Morales confidently won and which the United States and its allies in Latin America declared” falsified. ” – Panina emphasized.
According to the deputy, the events that took place in Bolivia show that “the aggressive position of the politicized metropolitan street that overthrew Morales last year is far from always identical to the position of the popular majority.”
“This lesson must be learned by everyone who tries to judge the will of the people by the media picture, by the crowds of demonstrators filling the streets and squares,” Panina stated.
