Russia has nothing to do in the G7 – this format has exhausted itself, said Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs. The deputy emphasized that the contribution to the world gross product of the countries that are members of the G7 is getting smaller.
“If the Russian Federation suddenly agreed to take part in the G7, it would be, firstly, a betrayal of the interests of Russia, and secondly, a betrayal of the interests of our allies in the East. Thanks to the US Congress, but we absolutely do not need the G7 format, ”said Elena Panina.
The parliamentarian noted that Russia and the whole world are more interested in participating in the G20 format summit.
The House Congressional Representative Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted a resolution against the inclusion of Russia in the G7 due to the conflict in the Donbass and the inclusion of the Crimean peninsula in the Russian state.
