Elena Panina: “The Berlin summit on Libya demonstrated Russia’s undoubted leadership”

A great role was played by Putin’s exceptional ability to cross the thin line in the most difficult relations between the warring parties inside Libya and the European and Arab powers behind them in order to bring the process to a positive denominator.

Having proposed balanced formulations that take into account various interests, Russia was able to ensure the creation under the auspices of the UN of a mechanism of six working groups, which step by step will begin the conditions for advancing to the world by political methods.

It is hoped that the Berlin accords will help rebuild Libya, destroyed in 2011 by Western intervention. However, this is only possible if the United States, France and Germany will comply with them honestly, without double standards and bias.

Otherwise, they will suffer the fate of the Minsk agreements, which are still not implemented through the fault of Ukraine.

In any case, there will be a long process in which Russia will certainly play a key role.”
