Member of the United Russia faction, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Elena Panina commented on Duma TV that the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Saudi Arabia with a break of 12 years can be considered a historic milestone.
“Saudi Arabia has traditionally been considered an ally of the United States always from the point of view of economic relations, and from the point of view of military-political contacts,” Elena Panina recalled.
According to the parliamentarian, a number of agreements that are being prepared for signing during the visit of the head of state to Riyadh are tentatively estimated at $ 2 billion, this is an “unprecedented step.”
Panina also noted that Saudi Arabia is making a turn towards creating serious economic foundations for cooperation already in the military-political sphere from the USA to Russia.
“It is possible that agreements will be signed on the purchase of S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems,” the deputy emphasized.
This can serve as a very serious step towards establishing collective security in the Persian Gulf zone, where Saudi Arabia traditionally and historically plays a very large role, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Elena Panina is convinced.
The Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said that Russia and Saudi Arabia intend to conclude a deal in the field of aviation for $ 700 million and contracts related to railways and petrochemicals.
Assistant to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, reported that as part of the Russian leader’s visit to Saudi Arabia, several dozen commercial and interdepartmental documents are being prepared for signing as part of cooperation in various areas.
The visit of the Russian leader to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for October 15.
