Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, deputy of the “UNITED RUSSIA” faction Evgeny Primakov co-chaired the round table “International Humanitarian Law and Humanitarian Cooperation: the Role of Parliaments and Inter-Parliamentary Institutions”, which is held as part of the II International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” on Tuesday, July 2 .
“A dialogue on this issue is needed between our parliaments not only to understand common values, but also to come together in common terminology,” Primakov said. – In the Russian tradition, “humanitarian” means referring not to exact natural sciences, something from the sphere of exclusively culture and spirituality. In the international sense, this means primarily relating to human rights, including, of course, culture, art, education, as well as health issues, freedom of the press and other major categories. ”
July 2, the Forum continues the work on sections. Lawmakers in 131 countries discuss issues of global security and world stability, the legal framework for a digital future, as well as the principles and trends of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The round table discusses international humanitarian law and humanitarian cooperation. In addition, work is planned in sections and at round tables of the Russia-Africa parliamentary conference.
Also, within the framework of the second day of the Forum, the second plenary meeting will be held, at which the signing of the final declaration is planned.
