The decision of the commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) not to invite Russian athletes to the Olympics in Pyeongchang, previously justified by the Sports Arbitration Court, looks unfounded, Irina Rodnina, the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told the United Russia.
Three-time Olympic champion said that the absence of any explanation from the IOC in connection with the decision taken in the next shows its groundlessness and unjustified.
“The same situation was also on December 5, when the IOC unreasonably suspended the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee in the organization,” the press service of the political party quoted Rodnina as saying.
“From such decisions, the level of mistrust only increases, not only for us, but for representatives of other countries. Already many people understand that in the Olympic movement itself and especially in the WADA work there are issues that are purely political in nature, “the parliamentarian concluded.
In the morning on Monday it became known that the IOC Commission decided to deny invitation to the Olympics in South Korea, 15 Russian athletes, who on February 1 acquitted the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS).
