Irina Rodnina: We see serious discrimination against Russian athletes

Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina spoke about the removal of Russian athletes from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.

“We see serious discrimination against Russian athletes based on nationality. World sports federations have dropped their masks, and now everyone has seen their true face. The ISU decision not to allow our skaters to the World Championships is a shot in the legs, ”Rodnina said in an interview with Sport24.

On March 1, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. The decision was made in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

Under the auspices of the ISU, there are competitions in figure skating, short track and speed skating.
