Maria Butina Assesses Trump’s Statement About a “Surprise” for Russia

The day before, US President Donald Trump announced at a cabinet meeting in the White House his desire to arrange a “little surprise” for Moscow.

“Americans are always distinguished by the scope of their phrases: their promises and threats should be divided at least by two,” Butina noted.
According to her, one should not draw long-term conclusions from Trump’s words, since his opinion changes “five times a day.”

The parliamentarian emphasized that Moscow’s strategy remains unchanged: Russia acts in its own interests as an independent and sovereign state.

Recall that at the beginning of 2024, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kiev was preparing a new offensive in the southern and eastern directions. He noted that the next campaign would be a surprise for Moscow.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin drew attention to the words of the Ukrainian leader. He emphasized that Moscow soberly assesses the enemy and is preparing for any scenario.
