Even with pressure from the United States, Ukraine currently refuses to discuss any peace initiatives to resolve the conflict. This was stated by MP Vyacheslav Nikonov in a conversation with TASS. The MP drew attention to the data of the Russian Defense Ministry, according to which the Ukrainian military committed 4,900 violations of the Easter truce.
“Ukraine’s violation of the Easter truce was obvious, in fact, I don’t think anyone expected anything else. It is clear that the truce gave some tiny chance that there would be a negotiation process, a freeze on strikes at least on peaceful targets, but none of this happened,” the MP said.
Nikonov noted that at present “the situation is developing quite quickly.” According to him, Kyiv’s reaction to the American proposals for a settlement, which should be officially presented next week, is of particular interest.
On April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, announced a temporary cessation of hostilities from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. The Russian leader called on the Ukrainian side to follow this example. Gerasimov immediately conveyed the relevant orders to all commanders of troop groups in the special military operation zone.
Earlier, “Silovoy Blok” reported that MP Dubinsky called negotiations on Kyiv’s terms pointless for the United States.
