The American authorities are spending taxpayer money on fantasies about their phobias instead of developing a plan to normalize relations with Russia. Vyacheslav Nikonov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times, said that the administration of U.S. President Joseph Biden had prepared 18 action scenarios in the event of an alleged “Russian invasion” of Ukraine in the West.
“Here, it turns out, what Washington spends taxpayers’ money on. On fantasies of their own manic phobias. There is no way to think about at least one scenario for improving relations with Moscow, ”Nikonov noted.
Earlier, he also wrote that the Russian proposals for security guarantees are an invitation to an equal conversation, to ensure that Russia is heard.
“Americans have always considered themselves an exceptional nation, and they do not want to talk to anyone on an equal footing. The Russian proposals are just an invitation to an equal conversation, to ensure that we are not only listened to, but also heard. This time, I think they listened to us. If only because we now have a situation of military-strategic parity with them, ”the parliamentarian emphasized.
Recently, statements from the West have been increasingly heard about Russia’s possible plans for a military invasion of Ukraine in connection with the “accumulation of troops on the border with this country.” Thus, the US Congress is considering a draft law on sanctions against Russia if such an invasion occurs.
Moscow pointed out that Russia was moving armed forces within its territory, and called statements about “Russian aggression” a pretext for building up NATO contingents in the border regions.
